Heat Pump Company in Mar Vista: What to Ask Before You Hire

You are replacing a gas furnace or an old AC in Mar Vista and you want one heat pump company to walk the house, measure it and put a number on paper. That is the job we do at Mar Vista AirCon: heat pump installs for Westside homes, quoted in writing before any work starts. Send us the home details and ask for the written quote, and we will set the walkthrough.

What sets the price of a heat pump install

We do not print a single heat pump price, because the house decides it. The quote is written after the walkthrough and before any work starts, and these are the items that move it:

  • Capacity, which comes from a load calculation of your rooms, windows and insulation
  • Ducted or ductless, meaning whether your existing ducts can carry the air or each room needs its own head
  • The electrical panel and the run from the panel to the outdoor unit
  • Where the outdoor unit sits, and how far the refrigerant line has to travel
  • Duct sealing and testing, which the permit can require depending on the scope
  • Permit fees and removal of the old equipment

A company that quotes you by phone without asking about those items is guessing. Ours lists each one, so you can compare two bids line by line.

Ducted heat pump or ductless: the call that decides the job

A ducted heat pump, the core of our heating installation work, replaces the furnace and the AC with one outdoor unit and one air handler on the ducts you already have. It works when the ducts are sound and sized for the new load. If the ducts are undersized or leaking, we say so in the quote and price the fix as its own line.

Ductless heat pumps, also called mini splits, skip the ducts. Each head heats and cools one room or zone. They suit additions, converted garages, back houses and rooms the old system never reached well. Our ductless mini split service page shows what that install looks like.

Not sure which one your house needs? That is the question the walkthrough answers. Send the form below with a few lines about your home and we will tell you which path to price.

What we check at the walkthrough

The visit takes in the whole job so the written quote has no gaps:

  • The current furnace or AC, its location and the access to it
  • Attic, closet or side yard space for the new equipment
  • The electrical panel, breaker space and the path to the outdoor unit
  • Duct condition, if you have ducts
  • The rooms that run too hot or too cold today

You get a written quote that names the equipment, the scope, the permit and the total. If you want to see a ducted option and a ductless option side by side, ask and we will write both.

Permits, power and what the city expects

Replacing a furnace, heat pump, AC or ductwork in California is permitted work. In Mar Vista the permit comes through LADBS, the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, and electric service is LADWP. Depending on the scope, Title 24 can require duct sealing and a duct leakage test checked by a third-party HERS rater who is not the installer.

We handle the permit and schedule the inspection. The permit fee and any testing show up in the quote, so they are not a surprise on install day. New residential heat pumps are now built with lower-GWP refrigerants such as R-454B or R-32, and we spec the equipment to the current SEER2 and HSPF2 efficiency ratings.

If gas is being retired, the gas line gets capped as part of the permitted work and listed in the scope. If you smell gas at any point, leave the house first and call SoCalGas or 911 from outside.

Already have a heat pump that is struggling?

A new install is not the only call we take. If your current heat pump is not heating, we do heating repair and tell you straight whether a repair or a replacement makes more sense. You get that comparison in writing, and the choice stays yours.

We serve homes across Mar Vista and the neighborhoods around it, from Palms and Del Rey to Venice and Culver City.

Heat pump company questions

Do you install both ducted and ductless heat pumps?

Yes. The walkthrough decides which one fits your house, and we can write the quote both ways if you want to compare. Ductless is quoted by the number of heads and the line set run.

Can you replace my gas furnace with a heat pump?

Yes. The quote covers removing the furnace, capping the gas line, the new equipment, the electrical work and the permit. You see each line before you approve anything.

Who pulls the permit?

We do. Heat pump work in Mar Vista is permitted through LADBS, and we schedule the inspection so you are not chasing the city.

How fast can I get a quote?

The quote is written after the walkthrough. Send the form or call to book the visit, and tell us if the current system is down so we can prioritize.

Is the price firm once I sign?

The written quote lists the scope and the total. If something behind a wall changes the job, we show you and you approve the added cost before we continue.
